COMPOSER | WRITER | PERFORMER | MAKER

Kate is a composer, writer, singer/songwriter, actor, musical director, musical arranger,

vocal coach and sound designer based in London. 

Kate gained a Bachelor of Music degree with a Composition major at King's College London, under the tuition of classical composers Robert Keeley and Silvina Milstein, and then trained at the Royal Academy Of Music, where she was made an Associate for her work in music in 2018.

In 2018-19, Kate was the Cameron Mackintosh resident composer at Lyric Hammersmith. ​

Kate recently won the LEH Emerging Talent Award 2020.

For stage, credits as composer and/or sound designer include a filmed dramatisation of Virginia Woolf's feminist A ROOM OF ONE'S OWN (London Library literary Festival, dir. Charlie Westenra), contemporary dance live audio story FRAGMENTS (NYC, dir./choreo. Mandie Rapoza, 2020 & 21), ANAHERA (Finborough Theatre, dir. Alice Kornitzer, European premier 2019), and ABANDON (Lyric Hammersmith, devised by Lyric Young Company & Laura Lomas, Best Composer Stage Debut Award nomination, 2017).

Other recent work in music for stage includes BLOOD HARMONY (Musical Director & Musical Arrangements; ThickSkin, for The Lowry, Traverse Theatre Edinburgh & UK tour, music The Staves, 2022), KAN YAMA KAN (Music Associate to composer Paul Clark; The Anthology Group, for Riyadh Festival 2022, dir./choreo. Will Tuckett), ENTER ACHILLES (Vocal Coach - Singing; DV8/Ballet Rambert, world tour incl Sadler's Wells, dir./choreo. Lloyd Newson, 2020), MUSIK (Vocal Coach - Singing; Assembly Rooms Edinburgh/Leicester Square Theatre, dir. Josh Seymour, writer Jonathan Harvey, music Pet Shop Boys, 2019/20), LEAVE TO REMAIN (Music Producer for Stage, Musical Arrangements & Musical Director; Lyric Hammersmith, dir./choreo. Robby Graham, writer Matt Jones, music Kele Okereke of Bloc Party, 2019), and FATHERLAND (Musical Director & Vocal Arrangements; Manchester Royal Exchange for MIF/Lyric Hammersmith for LIFT, Frantic Assembly, dir. Own projects include I CANNOT MAKE NOISE WHEN I SCREAM (Book, Lyrics & Music), funded & supported in development by Lyric Hammersmith, Mercury Musical Developments & Musical Theatre Network (2019) in collaboration with Luke Brown Dance, and F**KED IN MARRAKECH - a musical co-created with Alex Young (both on Book, Lyrics & Music), which is being supported by and developed with Concord Theatricals.

Other awards include S & S Award 2015 (for HERE, a musical co-created with Alex Young, in conjunction with Curve Leicester & Mercury Musical Developments). Kate and Alex were also 2019 finalists in classical song competition Composium (in association with PRS for Music, for Cheltenham Music Festival).
